Situated on a narrow ridgetop at the northernmost tip of the Anderson Valley, The Narrows Vineyard is a historic mountain ranch planted with mature Pinot Noir vines. A mere 10 miles from the rugged Mendocino Coast, this vineyard is affected by strong marine influences that produce summer fog and cooler daytime temperatures. It is the perfect setting for growing grapes of great intensity that embody the vineyard’s rugged beauty and wildness.

Wine Profile

Production Notes
Varietal Content: 100% Pinot Noir; Cooperage: 100% French oak - 60% new, 20% neutral, 20% second vintage
Winemaker Notes
The hidden gem of the Goldeneye portfolio, The Narrows is nestled in the cool “deep end” of the Anderson Valley, where it yields a wild, rustic wine, with fascinating aromas of fresh blackberry, strawberry compote, forest floor and wild mushrooms. On the palate, a firm, driving acidity, robust tannins and a dynamic earthiness frame the fruit, while drawing the flavors to a complex and lingering finish.
Production
The 2017 season began with plentiful rains that resulted in healthy vines and an excellent crop. After ideal temperate weather throughout the summer, a significant September heat spell ushered in a brisk start to harvest. A return to normal temperatures, combined with thoughtful irrigation, slowed the pace and allowed us to continue picking each site at optimal levels of ripeness. The grapes arrived at our winery in exceptional condition, resulting in complex wines that embody the rustic elegance of great Anderson Valley winemaking.
