In 1996, building on the tradition of excellence they established at Duckhorn Vineyards, Dan and Margaret Duckhorn embraced their growing love of Pinot Noir and came to Anderson Valley to found Goldeneye. In the years since, Anderson Valley has earned acclaim as one of the world’s greatest regions for Pinot Noir. Crafted predominantly from our estate vineyards and shaped by the influence of the wind, water and fog, this wine embodies both the elegance of Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, and its deep, rustic beauty.

Wine Profile

Production Notes
Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir - 73% estate fruit
Winemaker Notes
Capturing the flavorful diversity of the Anderson Valley, this alluring Pinot Noir reveals aromas of fresh raspberry, black cherry and rich, blackberry pie, with hints of warm baking spices, pennyroyal and sea spray salinity. On the palate, bright, balanced acidity and supple tannins frame juicy flavors of Bing cherry and bramble berries, with notes of leather and breakfast tea adding nuance to the long, lingering finish.
Production
After a very dry winter and a cold early spring, April and May brought warmer weather to Anderson Valley, along with budbreak and bloom. As the summer progressed, the temperatures grew warmer, with a significant mid-August heat spike marking the beginning of our sparkling wine harvest. While mid-August also brought wildfires to much of wine country, our distance from the smoke minimized the impact. Even so, we did extensive testing to ensure only the finest grapes were used for our 2020 wines, excluding any fruit that did not meet our standards. While 2020 produced a small crop, the wines are beautifully concentrated, with lovely tension, firm tannins, savory notes and vibrant, fresh-fruit flavors.
