Situated on a narrow ridgetop at the northernmost tip of the Anderson Valley, The Narrows Vineyard is a historic mountain ranch planted with mature Pinot Noir vines. A mere 10 miles from the rugged Mendocino Coast, this vineyard is affected by strong marine influences that produce summer fog and cooler daytime temperatures. It is the perfect setting for growing grapes of great intensity that embody the vineyard’s rugged beauty and wildness.

Wine Profile

Production Notes
Varietal Composition: 100% estate Pinot Noir
Winemaker Notes
Located in the cold “deep end” of the Anderson Valley, The Narrows has yielded an evocative Pinot Noir with rustic aromas of dark berries, redwood bark, clove, forest floor and graphite. On the palate, flavors of juicy blackberry and black plum are framed by velvety tannins and a vivacious acidity, with fascinating umami and mineral notes emerging on the long, complex finish.
Production
After a dry winter we received a bit of welcome rainfall in early March followed by a mild warm-up that helped to push the first buds. By mid-April, all three estate vineyards had reached 100% budbreak, with healthy balanced vines throughout the valley. Summer was dry and mild, with a few hot days to help promote even ripening. We harvested Chardonnay for our sparkling wines beginning in mid-August, with our first Pinot Noir at the start of September. After a late-August heatwave, harvest began in earnest until a natural cool-down slowed the pace, and our last pick was on October 6th. Another stellar vintage in Anderson Valley, the quality of the fruit was exceptional, producing incredibly concentrated, flavorful and aromatic wines.
